Nation's Leading Sperm Bank Partners with Global Advocates on Cancerpalooza Music Showcase

Award-winning Indie artist/survivors rally to support young adults with cancer

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

New York, NY (March 2009) - I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation (i[2]y), in partnership with My Vision Foundation and sponsored by California Cryobank, present Cancerpalooza, a special artist showcase event at landmark LA venue Molly Malones on Tuesday, May 19th to raise awareness for young adults with cancer. The evening will feature an unprecedented lineup of award-winning Indie artists, each of whom is a young adult directly affectly by cancer, either their own diagnosis or that of a loved one.

70,000 Americans between 15-39 are diagnosed with cancer each year. Unlike other age groups, survival rates for this population have not improved in 30 years. Young adults also face unique issues that are not currently being met by the current continuum of care including fertility, isolation, insurance, dating/sexuality, financial assistance, education, employment and age-appropriate peer support such as social networking, both off and online.

"California Cryobank (CCB) is excited to continue to grow it's successful relationship with i[2]y and branch out our support of the young adult community through innovative and influential projects such as these," says Dr. Cappy Rothman, CCB's co-founder. "The passion and energy they bring is changing the way providers engage and treat the younger generation, specifically when it comes to issues of fertility and reproductive barriers."

"Too often, when some of the life's unavoidable stressors takes over and things get out of control, we turn to music to help make sense of the madness. In dealing with cancer, this is no exception," said Matthew Zachary, Founder/CEO of i[2]y and a 13-year survivor of pediatric brain cancer. "We are humbled to partner with global oncofertility leaders to share in a mutual goal of improving survival rates, ending isolation and providing meaningful survivorship to this underserved community of millions."
