World's Leading Sperm Bank Partners with Global Cancer Advocates to Help Survivors Become Parents

CCB joins I'm Too Young For This! in raising awareness of the support resources available to young adult cancer patients facing potential fertility issues

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Los Angeles, CA (June 2008) - California Cryobank Inc. (CCB), a world leader in reproductive tissue banking, and The I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation (i[2]y), one of the nation's largest advocacy organizations for survivors in their 20s and 30s, announced today their partnership to increase awareness of the fertility preservation options and additional support resources availables to survivors in their childbearing years. Their partnership will include a national outreach campaign to both young adults and oncology professionals.

Each year, nearly 70,000 young adults face the possibility of losing their fertility due to cancer and cancer-related treatments, simply because they are uninformed of their options. Over the next 12 months, CCB and i[2]y will strive to ensure every young man and woman dealing with cancer understands the opportunity exists to store their reproductive tissue for future use.

Along with an ongoing Internet cross-promotional awareness campaign, CCB's co-founder, Dr. Cappy Rothman, will appear on i[2]y's "Stupid Cancer Show," an internationally syndicated live talk-radio webcast about cancer in young adults, on July 28th to discuss sperm, egg, and embryo banking and the specific programs available to assist these young adults. Additionally, CCB will equip oncology professionals with i[2]y support materials at cancer centers throughout the nation.

"California Cryobank is excited to be partners with I'm Too Young For This!. Young adults affected by cancer now have a place where they can connect to their peers facing similar situations. i[[2]y offers this unique type of connection through its online community where one can find live support groups in virtually any city," explained Rothman.

"The unmet fertility rights of young adults affected by cancer is of growing concern to the national public health interest. Partnerships like these are critical to improving best practices in the delivery of age-appropriate quality care to this grossly underserved population," said Matthew Zachary, Founder and CEO of i[2]y, himself a 12-year survivor of pediatric brain cancer.
